Workshop on the Prevention of Forced Marriage

Forced marriage happens frequently in Berlin as well.

Forced marriage is a form of domestic and usually sexual violence, which is not only a massive violation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, but also of numerous other conventions, declarations and laws (see the brochure "Forced Marriage" of the Berlin Working Group against Forced Marriage).

We note the need for information and education on this topic in order to protect affected young people from forced marriage.

In order to reach as many young people and multipliers as possible, we offer this workshop in schools and public institutions.

The background of a possible forced marriage and possibilities of action are worked out pedagogically with different methods.

The workshop lasts 4 hours and is led by female/male instructor, each working separately (if necessary) with the male and female youth.

We make every effort to acquire funding for these workshops. However, if our financial resources are depleted, we are obliged to charge fees.
